Is there a way to know what a store's Black Friday sales will be before Black Friday?

Asked by monsoon (2528points) November 23rd, 2008

It’s the first year I’ve ever taken a stab at Black Friday, and I was wondering if it’s like, pick a store and hope for the best, or is that info available some where? I’ve looked online a bit, but I can’t seem to find any, like, “Black Friday Ad”. Specifically, I was to go to Best Buy.

Best Buy has great deals on Black Friday. My friend has worked in one for about four years while she’s been in college, get up bright and freaking early.

You can look here for most of the store’s Black Friday ads.

Perfect, Gruz06. I’ve been looking for a site like this! I also check DealNews daily, for all other current sales. This site is really helpful, and they often have Black Friday info.

Awesome, and, actually I work at bestbuy :) This’ll be my first black friday though.

@gruz06, that site’s really awesome, is it accurate? As in, if I don’t see something I want, should I pass on the shopping, or will there be other things probably that aren’t mentioned there?

The Consumerist has posted Black Friday flyers prior to the event in past times.

I worked at a Wal-Mart one year on Black Friday (10p – 7a shift, so I literally watched the whole crowd form). We had to put all of the merchandise under tarps, so you couldn’t tell what was where. I didn’t know it was a secret, so when someone asked me where a Laptop or something was, I got yelled at for trying to find it for him.

They take this shit pretty seriously it seems.

@joey, Yeah, I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be a secret or not. I’m debating going, because that black friday sales sight didn’t really show anything I’m interested in (a bluray player<$150). We’ll see though.

If they open at five (this is best buy now), what time should I be there?

I’ve gone right after dinner a couple times (arriving at 8 or 9 in the evening) and the line was around the building at Best Buy. It’s ludicrous to go at all, really, since there are people out there willing to wait for a solid twelve hours. But the earlier the better; you’re not going to be too early.

@monsoon Walmart has a Magnavox Blu-ray player for $128.
