The word “freestyle” is commonly used as a verb in the hip hop community. I doubt that qualifies it as a proper usage of the word, though. Here it is in print.

So, translate what “they would freestyle philosophy” for me, please. No wonder Socrates drank hemlock voluntarily. (And I shudder to think what “they believed in having a dozen…virgins after they were dead” might imply.)

They would make up philosophy as they went and tell it to their peers in the form of a rhyme. Sorry for the bad joke. I will be serious from here on out.
