Is it worth getting the iPhone 3G for christmas?

I have the original one and I wasn’t planing on getting the 3G but I can’t relay thing of anything else to get, would you say it is a good idea to or do you think apple might be releasing another one at some point early next year? or is there some other reason not to get it?
