Who are the moderators on Fluther?

It’s closer to the first thing you mentioned, a secret society of dark underworld types.

Retired super heroes.

The most amazing people in the world.

Lets just call them the intelligentsia of the internet.

You had best call them “Almighty Modheads” or they’ll get their buddy Zeus to throw some lightning bolts at you.

intelligentsia? Boy, are you misinformed. I would assume those folks assumed to be intelligent could understand clever humor, which seems to be a major failing on their part. Zeus holds no fear for me, as Evelyn has been keeping that old boy busy with her many splendored female attributes. His lightning bolts barely moves anymore.

You guys are mod suckups. I’ve always felt mods are a pretty unnecesarry part of an online community. They should at most be in the background. Let the people dictate the discussion not the powers that be.

Granted the fluther mods don’t dominate discussions and the general feel of the community. I don’t see a reason to revere them as superhumans, though.

@elchoopanebre: Mods are an important part of an online community. If there were no mods here that would become evident very quickly. The mods are very much in the background here. But they do put in a lot of time helping to make Fluther what it is.

@elchoo Unmoderated sites aren’t worth my time. I have no interest in engaging people who can’t behave w/ reasonable civility.
They are enough sites that aren’t moderated for them to spew their vitriolic blather on….

To get back to the question at hand, I’ve often wondered who they are and how they are chosen. I think PDub is one, RicharHenry obviously is one, shilolo? Any others?

How does one get to be a mod? By the way, I think you all do a great job, but I am not kissing anyone’s toe, ass or pocket!

how? = owner contacts you if they want you to be a mod.

Erik left the Fluther development team a while ago, it’s just Ben and Andrew now.

And everyone knows that in the end there can be only one.

No one ever likes the referees in a game, they get in the way sometimes, they make bad calls sometimes, they have to ensure everyone follows the rules. If you don’t like this games referees go play somewhere else. I feel this is a good product because there are some limits, not just chaos.
