What happened to all the lobster tanks?

Asked by peedub (8708points) November 29th, 2008

It seems they were a common fixture in grocery stores everywhere. Now I only see them at specialty markets. Am I imagining things or have they disappeared?

I have really only noticed them at Red Lobster.

And I am happy to report they are still there and delicious.

Hypothesis, could be nonsense: What with people having to work more and more hours and not wanting anything but convenience foods, lobsters have fallen out of favor and didn’t sell. Plus, they’re expensive, and no one has money anymore.

Does anyone still know how to cook them?

It’s not the 70’s anymore and there are easier ways of trying to pretend you’re sophisticated.

Giant still has them. My kids love to look at the lobsters. One time, the guy behind the counter let my daughter hold a huge lobster in her hands. It was a highlight of her year!

I don’t see them anymore, I have looked for them too. I thought I was the only one who noticed that.

Tiff: As a kid, I had a pet lobster (that was supposed to be my dinner).
