If I drink two energy drinks a day (generally sugar-free redbull), what is the absolute latest I could drink the second one before it would start affecting my sleep?

Depends on the person. I can drink one and then go to sleep.

It depends a lot on your sleepng habits, your caffeine ingestion/absorption rate, and how much sleep you’ve gotten recently. You should leave a few hours between the second redbull and when you go to sleep would be my guess.

If I don’t sleep for a day and then have half of a drink with caffine I will be up for hours on end. I used to be addicted to caffine and it was HELL to quit. Now I can’t even have chocolate without it turning me into a 33 year old With ADD. Stray from the energy. Sleep produces all you need.

I’d say at lunch. I drink two cokes a day. I drink one with breakfast and one with lunch. If I have a coke later in the afternoon, I won’t be able to go to sleep at my regular time.

I read somewhere that you should not drink caffeinated stuff after 4–5 pm if you don’t want it to affect your sleep. It was backed by some studies, so I would assume that’s correct information.

i don’t know how you like Red Bull. it tastes like cough syrup to me! AMP and Starbucks Doubleshot all the way….not that I drink any of this stuff…uhh this is just what I have heard

Typically, the sugar rush from normal Red Bull drinks lasts anywhere from half-an-hour to an hour-and-a-half, and less for the sugarfree version – depending on the body-type of the person drinking it, their absorption ability of caffeine, and their immunity to caffeine.

Taurine and caffeine are two of the primary ingredients in Red Bull. Taurine can be consumed in large amounts, and has no known side effects. Caffeine should be limited, and is most likely the reason you posted this question.

Because the sugar-rushes are so short, I believe the absolute latest you could drink a Red Bull, even a sugarless one, is 2 hours before you plan to sleep.

Caffine has been shown to inhibit a person’s ability to reach REM sleep. The sleep that actually makes you feel rested.

From what I remember hearing, a typcial 12oz can of soda with “x” mg of caffine had a half life repsonse that depleted itself within 8 hours.

@Spargett .:. interesting…maybe that’s why i’ve been having problems?

Better drink plenty of water, too, so your body can rehydrate and flush out the caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic.
