Hot drinks?

Asked by steelmarket (3603points) December 4th, 2008

I’ve gotten to like hot drinks lately. What else, besides hot milk, coffee, tea and cider would be good? Please include the recipe if you have one.

Hot chocolate! I’m fully aware that it sounds childish (because it is), but hot chocolate cheers me up any day. And it’s quick. Buy some Swiss Miss at the supermarket and you’re set. :)

Like I’ve said before hot apple cider and Buttershots Butterscotch Snapps. Yum!

Have you tried chai tea?

Also, I just found this site… It’s got some cool ideas!

I recently stumbled on my new favorite drink: a cup of coffee with a spoonful of hot chocolate mix in it…. mocha coffee like. Very yummy and so easy to make.

(1)steamed milk (the frothy kind that they make in coffee shops). (2) mulled wine.

Having an espresso machine with a milk steamer opens up worlds of possibilities.

Coffee with lots of half and half plus a shot of Buttershots. Heaven in a mug.

When you make hot chocolate, use milk instead of water…it is so much better!

Try hot Dr. Pepper. It’s really good!

Warm milk… mixed with a shot of Kahlua. ;)

@jb- Are you serious?

I’ve actually heard the Dr. Pepper thing quite a bit before. While Dr. Pepper is my favorite kind of pop, I can’t see myself heating it up and trying that.

Is Buttershots the brand name? I’ve never heard of it before, but that sounds really good (reminds me of Butterbeer in the Harry Potter books!) and I really want to try it now. Where can I get some? Any grocery store?

Toddy! Good for the body.

Whoa, @jb, I’d forgotten about hot Dr. P. I will nuke some this weekend.

Would Scotch neat (no ice) be considered a Hot Drink?

steelmarket's avatar

Probably, @boffin, but I cannot sip it while I am at work.

@Drastic: I happen to have some at the moment, so I went and looked. Buttershots is made by DeKuyper. It is butterscotch schnapps, and they have recently renamed it Buttershots BURST (which really pisses me off), but it still tastes great. Should be available at any liquor store. It’s nice over ice, too, to sip in the evening.

boffin – My british mother-outlaw introduced me to hot tea with scotch. Very yummo. Also hot milk with brandy goes down very well (I usually have a little bit of sugar in mine).

@shadling, DD & steelmarket…....yes, hot DP is great. It’s a good hot drink that’s not sickly sweet like cider can be.

I like warm milk with a nice floral honey.
