Is it my imagination, or are more fluther answers containing sexual content?

Asked by cdwccrn (3610points) December 4th, 2008 from iPhone

Sex toys, masturbation- it’s all here today. Is it getting more prevalent here? Am I the only one concerned?

I’m not sure because I haven’t been on the site an extremely long time, but why would you be concerned about it, even if that is the case? As long as people ask questions in a mature manner, what’s the problem?

I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about. The terms and conditions specifically say that the front page can’t be explicit but things can be R-rated (they’re word, not mine) in the actual questions. Masturbation is the safest form of sexual activity, and if one uses sex toys, well, hey, makes it more fun! It’s not the 1800’s anymore, people can express sexuality without it being base and shameful.

Just asking…..

My reply may have come across harsh, but I guarantee it wasn’t intended to if it was taken that way.

On one hand, I can see why you would be concerned. I’ve been on different Q&A sites that were taken over by immature – often underage – users who asked questions regarding nothing other than sexual content. Sometimes, the questions weren’t even legitimate. Worrying about Fluther being taken over by those kind of people, I can definitely understand.

But yeah. I think if the question is in good taste or people are genuinely trying to learn about something or understand something, I’m all for it.

I can’t really say, I’ve been here for a very short while. The place seems mature or not to handle that sort of content without becoming low-brow, though.

I haven’t noticed an increase of this. Do you have any examples you’d care to share?

I haven’t really noticed, but while we’re all here, could we discuss my schlong?

(I kid, I kid)

I’ve noticed. I haven’t been concerned, though. I’ve been relieved. Puritanical attitudes concern me.

I think it’s because Sarah Palin went home…or, was supposed to go home, but hasn’t yet. What else is there to talk about but sex and religion? It’s harder to argue about sex over the internet.

I did notice it today, but I don’t see it becoming such a trend as to become the focus of the site. There have been other times when there were several sex related threads all at once, too. I don’t personally have a problem with it, but if that’s all we were talking about I’d probably lose interest pretty quickly.

I missed the masturbation thread, but I did toss in a sex toy answer.

I don’t think there have been more sex related topics recently. If there were I don’t believe I would mind. If it doesn’t interest me yeah, as if there is a sex topic that wouldn’t interest me I won’t deal with it.

<Perk> Really? Where? I apparently missed them!

I’m gonna answer this question so long and hard. Oh yea. You like that don’t you… you bad question.

Really, seems to me that there’s actually less sexual questions. There’s always a few new users that pop in to ask a couple sexual questions here and there. As was said up there, I’m guessing it’s mostly kids and they get bored with our regular subject matter.
