How long can I expect a cable modem to perform well?

Asked by McBean (1703points) December 5th, 2008

I’ve had mine about 4 years now and I’m having to unplug and reboot every 2 to 3 hours. Is this due to it reaching the end of its life, is it a hunk of junk, or is something else going on?

4 years is a pretty long time for anything that the cable company provides.
I’m on my third DVR in 3 years.

Well, dinner was good, anyhow.
