A new friend is graduating with a masters soon. I don’t know this person too well but we are developing a new friendship. Recommendations for a soon master’s level graduate?

Bottle of champagne and two nice glasses. Or take them out to dinner somewhere nice to celebrate.

Degree is in business administration. Paying off the degree isn’t an issue for this person either.

Pens get lost, no one carries a brief case any more, portifolios they tend to give you at work. Engraved business card case—maybe.

How much do you want to spend?

I would think you would want to choose a gift for his lifestyle, personality, and interests, regardless of the educational milestone or the person’s professional ambitions.

If you don’t know the person too well, take care not to make the item overly personal or inappropriately expensive, while still letting it express a warm interest. For instance, to further your friendship, you might choose something that it would be possible to use together, without being so obvious about it that he will feel obligated to invite you to share it.
