has anyone ever visited a psychic or used a medium to contact the dead?

someone close to me recently passed away and i am considering going to a psychic medium to contact them. i have been to a psychic in the past with what i thought were good results. i have never used a medium to contact the dead and am wondering about other people’s experiences with both.

If you believe that there can be contact with the dead (and I assume that you do, if you’re considering this) then why do you need a medium to help you connect with them? Why not do it yourself? (I have no idea what that would look like. But I do think it’s possible. I had a boss who was a psychic once, and she said that anyone could have contact with the spirit world, as long as they were open to it).
