Why do people like to state th obviouse?

Asked by coffeenut (6171points) December 11th, 2008

It drives me nuts when during a rush every customer has to comment “it’s buisy today” or “wow its buisy”
same as when it’s slow
I hear it 160–200 times day even if a customer says it 3sec before the next(that is next to him) will say it to

They’re just looking to make conversation, and don’t know what else to say. They’re just trying to be nice, and they don’t realize you hear it every second of every day. I used to work at a local bakery in Chicago, and my favorite question was “Is it fresh?” I swear, I wanted to respond with “What? This thing? Well, gee. We haven’t made these in years. I just found it in the back yesterday.”

Just smile and agree. That’s all people want.

Your question is full of spelling errors.

Is that too obvious?

They’re probably looking to connect. If you don’t enjoy that, why are you working at a coffee shop?

I don’t work at a coffee shop, I think this is my last customer service job(I asume that’s what you ment)

Sorry – I made the wrong assumption based on coffeenut and working in a busy store.
Sounds like a good choice.
