I don't get it...

Asked by chicadelplaya (2218points) December 12th, 2008

Why is it we only get the month of December to have “The Clapper” and “Chia Pet” commercials crammed down our throats? We don’t see them advertised any other time of year (or at least I haven’t). Do they really think these items are the perfect holiday gift to give, year after year after year? This just occurred to me the other day after a hearty laugh.

Hmm, I haven’t really noticed that, maybe because I haven’t been watching much T.V. lately. I do recall seeing those commercials I while ago, I just can’t remember if it was during the holiday season, maybe it was.

The Clapper was actually discontinued in the late nineties, and so, it was extremely expensive on Amazon and eBay. I saw that they’re selling it again at Walgreen’s though!

I’m not sure how many people gift these items. The Chia head is thoroughly unnerving. Seeing these commercials definitely brings me back, and give me a laugh, though. So I’m alright with them coming on.

We get stupid ads all year. You’re lucky to only get them at Christmas!

Maybe the proliferation of white elephant parties? I hear soap-on-a-rope sales go through the roof.
