Wordpress/ news poster any use them?

I was going to use wordpress to post news on the main page of my website. I don’t have much experiance with this, what i am looking for is something I an integrate with my design, Do I have to work my design around wordpress. I really want something I can paste a code in the body area of my site and then use something in the backend to post the news and it will show up there. Do you have any good suggestions on what to use?
