What holiday cookies do you like/like to make?

Asked by seekingwolf (10410points) December 19th, 2008

I make sooooo many each year!

I make chocolate chip cutouts, sugar cookie cutouts, date balls, almond short bread cookies, chocolate krinkles (chocolate cookies with powdered sugar), gingerbread, butter cookies…

I think making them is more fun than eating them sometimes. Although chocolate chip cutouts are my favourite.

What about you?

My sister recently made almond shortbread cookies with almond icing and blackberry jam. I am going to steal that recipe. They were wonderful.

My mom and I make these really amazing cookies that are like mini sugar cookies with a hershy’s kiss pressed into the center.
They’re really easy and really good looking for a gift basket (if they last long enough to put in a gift basket!)
Heres a recipe: http://www.hersheys.com/recipes/recipes/detail.asp?id=4700&page=11&per=25&product_id=19

We also make fudge, peanut butter cookies and lemon bars
yummmm!

Almond Spritz cookies from a cookie gun.

Mmm those all sound really good!
Almond shortbread with blackberry jam sounds interesting I’ve never tried that!
When I make my almond shortbread, I make them circular and flat, with a little melted chocolate on top with crushed almonds…

Thanks for the recipe Jacob :D

We had a thread recently with some more cookie recipes. My mum makes these ginger cookies with molasses, they have their own personality different than that of regular gingerbread cookies, very pleasant to eat. I have a picture of the recipe so I’ll upload that soon!

i love crafting my own cookies…..

of course chocolate chip is my absolute favourite but i like to use marshmallows, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter, fudge, nuts, i like to play around with these sorts of things and create my own cookie.

so far my favourite is chocolate chunks with butterscotch chips with a bottom layer of caramel and chocolate. love love love making cookies.

My fav is Bourbon Balls. The hard part though is that they need to set for a couple of days. So you have to put them out of sight or risk a premature tasting. :)

My favorite is just plain old cut out sugar cookies, frosted with vanilla icing & sprinkles. They’re a basic & soooo good.

my mom makes these candy cane cookies where she’ll dye half the dough red and leave the other half white and she’ll roll out the dough into a long snakelike thing and will twist the two colors so it looks like a candy cane…dust with sugar and bake…they are so cute, I love them.

Chocolate Mudslide Cookies I made them for the first time this year and they are so delicious! Huge chocolate flavor and almost brownie like. I substituted macadamia nuts for walnuts.

I just got done making 2 batches of chocolate chip cutout dough (chilling in the fridge). I’m going to bake them later though. Cutting them out is hard because of the chips but it’s totally worth it.

@miasmom…OMG, I had forgotten all about those candy cane cookies! My mom used to make them, too. What good memories they bring back. Thanks.

I don’t really like making them, but I sure like to eat them! Peanut butter cookies – the kind that are ‘criss-crossed’ with a fork and have sugar on them – are my favorites. Followed by thin sugar cookies dusted with sugar (NO ICING) and chocolate chip cookies, without the chocolate chips. I know that’s weird, but I’m not a big chocolate fan, and the cookies themselves are still delicious!

My mom and I always make a variety of cookies, including some ones with anise in them, which are delicious, but I think one of my favorites is just decorating the slice and bake type. We also make a yule log (read: not cookies) that is BRILLIANT. It only gets made once a year, and it’s an all day process, but it is beyond delicious and it’s just tradition.
