How do I turn off the speakers on my new Ipod Touch?

Asked by hTownDude (178points) December 22nd, 2008

I found the “sounds” section under the general settings but is there any way to deactivate the speakers entirely? Or is my music just going to play out loud every time my headphones pop out?

That never gets old.

Have you tried using the volume buttons while the headphones are unplugged?

Usually the ipod pauses when the headphones are pulled out. Then you can control the sound with the volume control buttons. There is no instant mute for music.
