Knee injury advice?

About a week and a half ago, I had an embarassing accident…long story short, I fell on my knee…hard. Anyway, part of my knee is almost completely numb, and if you touch certain parts of my knee, you can feel it somewhere else. Should I be concerned, or will it eventually return to normal? Is there anything I should do to speed up the healing process?
