Apache sees my SSL certificate, but thinks it's self-signed?

Asked by dibau_naum_h (43points) December 24th, 2008

I’ve purchased an SSL certificate, & configured Apache2 to use it. I verified that it uses my certificate (entered a few more letters & Apache didn’t like it). I also verified that I can see all of my details & the CA details in the certificate. However, when I try to access the site, the browser complains that the certificate is self-signed, & present some wierd details from it.
Any idea what am I doing wrong?

SSL can be a beast sometimes when you’ve compiled Apache from scratch. There are a LOT of things that could be causing it, but most likely its something simple. I have to ask, did you properly set SSL support for your particular vhost? You’ve got to add the SSLCertificateFile and SSLCertificateKeyFile to the vhost entry, otherwise I think it reverts to the self-signed cert you may have created when creating your CSR.
