Is it beyond the realms of possibility to create a decoy President?

Asked by oasis (980points) December 27th, 2008

With the advances in plastic surgery,do you think it would be possible to create a clone of anyone, using an average Joe,create the features of, say,Obama and pass him off as the President?

If I remember correctly, Sadam Hussein had many decoys of himself. makes you wonder if we even got the right one . LOL

I think Michelle would probably notice.

Given that body language is reported to be 97% or so of communication, it seems like it would be hard for the decoy to match all of the mannerisms. Then again, the Sadam example seems compelling evidence that it could happen.

I would hate to be the decoy when Michelle finds out. She would kick my @ss.

Anything is possible.

What do you think George W. Bush is?

RandomMrdan's avatar

George Bush doesn’t make a good Cheney decoy though.

The Doppelgänger. It’s an idea we love to play with. The Prisoner of Zenda. The Prince and the Pauper. The Man in the Iron Mask. Jekyll and Hyde, William Wilson, Dorian Gray, Dostoevky’s pathetic Golyadkin and Nabokov’s delusional Hermann Karlovich. Surely somebody besides SNL has explored in fiction the idea of a presidential double.

The movie Dave staring Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver was actually about a presidential double.

@MrDan, Bush didn’t make a great Cheney decoy, but he was a great puppet for Cheney and his neo-con cronies.

The Saddam trick was enhanced by horrible video quality. It’s a lot easier to fake it in basic cable than it is on HD.

I think physically it could be possible, but I believe JohnRobert is right… body language would be the hard part.

If Darryl Hammond can do it…

This begs the question that if it is possible, and it has been done, perhaps we could take some really intelligent people, make them up to look like Congress, and get rid of the dweebs we have now. Surely a few hundred body doubles can’t be any worse than the idiots we have making the laws in this country now? eight years of Bush makes me realize any idiot can get elected.

@petzebra

I’m interested to know how many people even know what most of our elected officials look like. Hell, they could have all been replaced by now and most people wouldn’t know unless the “news” made a big deal about it. Either way, they’d forget about it once Britneys new video comes out.
