2009 IIHF World Juniors - How Many Countries are Involved?

I thought this would be easy to find out. Its not. I’ve googled the daylights out of it and nothing. How many countries have enlisted in this years World Junior Hockey Championships?? I was just curious, but now that I havent found the answer – Its driving me NUTS

There are 12 teams in the tournament. I'm not sure how they get their rankings, but you can find out more by going here: http://www.iihf.com/home-of-hockey/championships.html and look at the U20 tournament.
