No MMS, no copy and paste, no video recording (unless Jailbroken), no Flash Support, can anyone else add anything?

MMS is the sending of picture or video messages with your phone. (like, picture text)
Although there isn’t MMS, you can email pictures/videos.

Make sure you like the touchscreen keyboard and can type with it, because if you don’t like it, you won’t enjoy the iPhone. Oh, it also has a terrible battery life. You can run into issues with “jailbreaking” it, like having it “bricked” and stuff like that. Not fun.

Let’s face it, the benefits outweigh the ‘defects.’ The GPS is bad ass and doesn’t cost extra.

One major reason for you not to get an iPhone might simply be cost. After everything, it’s not the most cost-effective option. To me it’s worth what I pay and more, but that’s just me.

They break real easy when you drop them…don’t ask me how I know…let’s just say this isn’t the first iphone I’ve had.

peedub's avatar

This is very true. I cracked my last one. I recommend a good case.

@peedub I heard that at Wallmart they are selling them for just 100 bucks

seekingwolf's avatar

@Blobman

That’s if you get it with a new 2 yr contract with ATT.
I think the iPhone’s biggest hidden costs are from ATT and the data costs. Oh, and the messaging and voice minutes…it adds up fast! ATT is expensive!

(of course, you can unlock your iPhone and go with T-Mobile)

Drops calls.
3g is not really all they say it is.
Poor battery life.
Battery has to be replaced through Apple.
Poor construction.

It is a great toy that I use as a phone.

I think I have enough technological distractions.

@blob, seeking: the $99 Walmar iPhone was a myth. Walmart does sell iPhones, but at the normal $199 with a 2yr contract.

Also, the 3g hasn’t been unlocked yet, but the deb team is suppssedly releasing an unlock soon.

I have one. I love it. But the reception is not so good. The most common thing my boyfriend says at this point is, “I hate the iPhone!!!!!!!!!!!”

dropped calls has gone up insanely according to one person i know with an iphone 3g at 2.2, but both my sisters and another friend of mine haven’t said anything about it.

battery life is why i won’t get one, i use my week life battery in my phone, and when I’m at school that week life is cut off to a day and a half due to low signal, killing the battery, i would have to constantly be charging an iphone, plus i’m on my ipod all the time killing its battery anyway.

yearly running service costs for an iphone are rediculous, be prepared to spend up to $500 yearly on top of a normal unlimited plan.

I personally am going to wait another year or two and see how it goes, but so far it hasn’t hit my main requirement of a good battery that will last long enough for my standards, i’m not a fan of plugging my phone into a car whenever i go somewhere personally.

other than that I’d take one in a heartbeat if i was given one or whatever.

If cost is really an issue, I really do suggest unlocking it and going with T-Mobile.
It’s not 3G, but you’ll get EDGE service, and it’s much cheaper.
The data alone (unlimited) PLUS unlimited messages is only $35/month, versus with ATT…which is like, something around 50–60/month. I don’t know if that includes messaging or not.

I dont know why anyone would complain about the battery life… its one of the highest. It definitely decreases battery when you use internet a lot which I guess most people dont do on other smart phones b/c it sucks. But if you were to use the phone as less as other smart phones it would be the same,

You also cant brick your iphone. You can always recover it like new.

I cannot think of one reason not to get an iPhone. This is the closest to love I’ve ever felt towards an object.

Just get an iPhone, you won’t be sorry you did. It is by far the best phone available at the moment. Ask anyone that has one.

[clearly most of the negative comments above were from people that don’t have one. For example the battery and reception on the iPhone is the best of any phone I’ve ever had – and poor construction!?! The thing is like a work of art.]

iphone are too slow responding in texting,
they also would be nasty for those who are a fab of long fingernails..
i’d rather go for a notebook rather than an iphone.

cornets_01's avatar

if your iphone is “destroyed”.. too bad, you will have a harder time and more expenses too to fix it.. it’s not like nokia that has a lot of chance to be fixed at a lower cost.. and in some countries, it’s really not user friendly..

^^ oh, come on.

For me, I picked the iPod Touch over the iPhone because I just can’t stand how much AT&T charges for plans. Two of my best friends have iPhones and they absolutely love theirs.. however, I just can’t stand the idea of paying so much money for an AT&T plan, when I get basically unlimited everything with NTelos for a lot less.

The only complaint I have about my iPhone is that when you are texting you can’t turn it to landscape mode and use two hands for typing. It makes my thumb hurt to text the old way. Oh yeah not getting to send picture messages kinda sucks.
