When you SMS a non existent number, why don't you get some kind of response?

It’s annoying, I suppose because it might cost the sender to receive the response…

I get a response when I text a nonexistent number. What provider do you have?

What? You text someone who doesn’t exist and they text you back to tell you they don’t exist? How weird is that?

@lightly: I get an auto response saying it was invalid. :)
