Who is your celebrity look-alike?

Asked by jonsblond (43665points) January 5th, 2009 from iPhone

Do you ever hear, “you look like…”. If so, which celebrity? I have heard a young Sissy Spacek, Bridget Fonda and Anna Kournikova myself. If you have been told you look like someone, has it ever upset you? Personally when I hear Sissy Spacek I think of pigs blood, but Anna K. was a nice.

Someone once said I look like Candace Bergen when she was younger, but I don’t see it.

My niece says I remind her of Janis Joplin, but not because of looks.

cookieman's avatar

I look like Kevin James (from King of Queens) mixed with Jackie Gleason with a little bit of mobster thrown in for good measure.

tonedef's avatar

Most flattering: Gael Garcia Bernal
Most realistic: Adrian Grenier
Most insulting: Chris Kattan

El_Cadejo's avatar

Ive been told by quite a few different people i look like Crispin Glover

Anyone ever play with this before?

@jp whats with these homies dissin my girl?

AstroChuck's avatar

A cross between Kevin James and Golda Meir.

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

I look a lot like Molly, the American Girl doll. I’ve had a lot of people tell me that, and my grandma bought her for me when I looked the most like her.

Judi's avatar

according to this website, I look like Kirsten Dundst and Kate Hudson, both of whom are a lot younger than me.

queenzboulevard's avatar

one time my aunt said I look like Toby Macguire

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

@Judi, According to that website (which is pretty cool, btw), I look like Janeane Garofalo.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@judi thanks, i was actually looking for that link to post with mine, i couldnt find it. That one is much better.

jasongarrett's avatar

Mostly Bill Gates; occasionally Lou Holtz.

IBERnineD's avatar

I get Drew Barrymore from people a lot. But that internet matching system said Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Carpenter, and Lisa Rinna. ...strange…

jessturtle23's avatar

Christy Brinkley and the Hemmingway girls. Lots of people have said, “You look like that Hemmingway girl that killed herself.” Um, thanks. I think. @IBER- I can see the Anne Hathaway.

BlueDing's avatar

I’ve been told Marrisa Tomei, but, you know, less sexy curves. Also I’ve heard Natalie Portman, but I think it’s more because I’m littler and a bit like her personality wise in Garden State.

PupnTaco's avatar

Mine said I was 71% Alan Rickman with glasses. Or 63% Elvis Costello. This thing can’t get past the glasses!

peedub's avatar

I’ve been told Thomas Jefferson, but I choose to go for more of a Nostradamus look.

IBERnineD's avatar

@PupnTaco I love Alan Rickman!!

girlofscience's avatar

Haha, I think that MyHeritage website is totally based on face positioning…

Because look at what I got.

I don’t think I look like Katherine Heigl at all.

The only celebrities I’ve been told I look like more than once (and by that I mean I was told twice, for each) are Rachel McAdams (because my facial expressions apparently resemble hers) and Winona Ryder (when my hair is certain ways).

I think people are most frequently told they look like celebrities because of certain characteristics in demeanor rather than complete physical resemblance.

desiree333's avatar

@IBER, according to your profile picture I can definetly see the Anne Hathaway.

desiree333's avatar

I used to watch the show The OC with some of my friends, and they used to always say I looked like Mischa Barton. I dont really see the resemblance.. Although I have been told by like three people.

SoapChef's avatar

Mine came out Jessica Simpson. Ummm, that could not be farther off. When I was a kid (and so was she) I was told I looked like Barbra Streisand. Overall, I have been told most often that I look like Bette Midler. I have to agree.

IBERnineD's avatar

@desiree yeah I never noticed it before, but I guess the matching thing was right! lol

jfrederick's avatar

monica lewinsky – not sure what i should think of that…

saranwrapper's avatar

My dad looks exactly like Harold Ramos in Knocked Up. I did a double take when watching the movie. It took me a moment to realize that my father did not have the time to film that movie.

I don’t think I look like anyone. People say my mom kind of looks like Meryl Streep and I look exactly like my mom, so maybe…
Every so often I get Bette Midler, but I think it’s just the red hair and sequins.

aprilsimnel's avatar

I look like Janeane Garafalo with a nice tan. My Heritage matched me up 5 times with her, and having stood next to her at a bar a few years ago, I’d agree. We look as if we could be at least related. We are the same height and basic build and we have very similar facial bone structure.

My Heritage also thinks I look like James Spader (he came up 4 times, which is funny, because I’ve lusted after him for years), Kristanna Loken (came up 3 times), Halle Berry and Johnny Depp (2x each).

Maybe acting’s not as far-fetched a dream as I originally thought…

Jack79's avatar

Something between Antonio Banderas and Jim Morisson (I’d like to think), but in reality whenever I walk down the street people tease me saying “there goes Lenny Kravitz”. I’ve gained some weight in the past few years though. I think I look closer to Pavarotti than Kravitz now.

Jack79's avatar

ok that site you mentioned? It had a picture of Lenny Kravitz and I thought it was me, so I guess I really am Lenny Kravitz after all…couldn’t I be Leonard Cohen or something?

dlm812's avatar

People often comment that I look like Trisha Yearwood… which can be either a complement (also this one) – or – a bit of an insult. Either way, she’s married to Garth Brooks and is a very nice person (I hear) so I guess it’s not that bad!

shadling21's avatar

On MyHeritage, about half my results are Chinese or Japanese. That’s odd, since I haven’t got a drop of Asian blood in me. The most flattering match was Zhang Ziyi.

No one compares me to celebs.

andrew's avatar

Young Tom Hanks.

DrasticDreamer's avatar

I've been told I look like Kristin Kreuk, which is kind of funny, because she was a match on MyHeritage: http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr233/CorruptAnalysis/lookalike.jpg

Knotmyday's avatar

…Matthew Broderick (?) well, save Ferris.

Allie's avatar

According to Judi’s link I look like Camilla Belle.

amanderveen's avatar

I’ve been told a few times that I look a bit like Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman from the 70’s), which I only sorta see. MyHeritage matched me up with Jessica Biel, which I can see a bit in the picture they have of her, but wouldn’t see in most photos. Picitup Celebrity Match gave me Rose Byrne as my closest match, which seems closer than Jessica Biel.

Jeruba's avatar

I always hoped for Julie Christie, but what I got was Sandy Dennis.

However, my son looks like Leonardo Di Caprio at his slim young best.

coquilicot's avatar

I get told I look like Penelope Cruz pretty frequently. Judi’s link told me I looked like Paz Vega, which reasonable, we have similar coloring and face shapes. The other match was Paris Hilton, which is not reasonable. At all.

augustlan's avatar

All my life I’ve been told I look like Molly Ringwald, when we were both teenagers, and now that she and I are older. She’s me, only with better make-up :)

Jeruba's avatar

I just tried that celebrity match using two images of Cate Blanchett. Apparently she doesn’t look enough like herself…

mangeons's avatar

@augustlan I’ve never believed you, but now I see the resemblance! :)

loser's avatar

SpongeBob Squarepants.

Allie's avatar

Jeruba: How old is said son? (Kidding.. kinda..)

autumn43's avatar

Meryl Streep when she was younger.

Knotmyday's avatar

@loser- Not even close, dude. But funny as hell…Daaaaa-aa-aa-aa-aa-a-a-a-a-a!

Schenectandy's avatar

If I had attached earlobes, worked out tossing medicine balls, and smoked three packs of Marlboros a day I might be able to pass as Sterling Hayden. But my dad really does look like Fred Rogers.

Jeruba's avatar

@Allie, he’s 22. And smart, funny, warm-hearted, considerate, talented, and modest….

krose1223's avatar

I have heard Natalie Portman and Angelina Jolie.. ha. I hear the natalie portman thing a lot and only a few people have said Angie. I still like to claim that one though.

Allie's avatar

I like Jeruba’s son..

Krose: One of my best friends looks like Natalie Portman, too.

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

@krose, I’ve gotten Natalie Portman too, but I think it’s only because she went to my elementary school and she looked like me when she was little.

asmonet's avatar

I’ve been told look like Cristina Ricci in Sleepy Hollow when my hair is blond, the resemblance isn’t there as much anymore. And pretty much my entire childhood and even now I get that I looked like Thora Birch.

Thora Birch was my clone as a kid, I swears!

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

@asmonet, Which one of you had the soul?

krose1223's avatar

I AM ABOUT TO KILL THE INTERNET! IT KEEPS FREEZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGG!!!

So for the fourth time!!!! I did the little myheritage thingy and it told me I look like Gisele Bundchen pancakes!! when I loaded this picture… Which makes me EXTRA happy because I am not wearing makeup. Ha.

@aug- WHOA! You really do look like her, beautiful!
@tali- That’s kinda cool that you went to school with her. Everyone told me I looked like Matilda when I was little. And I mean everyone!!

I think the myheritage thing is just a little too flattering though.
crosses fingers this won’t freeze again

asmonet's avatar

@tali: Definitely Thora. She’s the ‘good’ one. >:D

@krose: The internet is not freezing. Your stupid browser is. :P lurve for pancakes.

@johnpowell: I think I have a crush on you now.

krose1223's avatar

St.George's avatar

A young Jane Fonda.

Jeruba's avatar

@Allie: And his hair is a little bit curly, and he makes a latte from heaven. And his heart is forever being broken.

augustlan's avatar

I bet Allie wouldn’t break his heart!

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

Guys, stop before Allie drools into her keyboard and ruins her computer.

krose1223's avatar

—ha! We’ve started a dating service!!

Allie's avatar

I’m down. Let’s set this up. ;-) I’m not a fan of coffee, but he can make me smoothies!

IBERnineD's avatar

I have no idea whats going on! :)

shadling21's avatar

@Jeruba- Lattes?
@Allie- I’ll fight you for him.

Jeruba's avatar

And we live in the Bay Area.

shadling21's avatar

I can move.

susanc's avatar

This thing is great!! They said both Estee Lauder and RIngo Starr – and you know they look just alike.
But people used to say Sandy Dennis. The teeth.

Jeruba's avatar

@SusanC, are you my sister?

Allie's avatar

WHAT!? Bay Area… That’s pretty much down the street. What is his name? Tell me more Jeruba.

susanc's avatar

@Jeruba: if I’m your sister and you’re Cate Blanchett, I’m better looking than I thought.

autumn43's avatar

Can I have some pancakes?

saranwrapper's avatar

ooh fluther wedding! @allie can I be the maid of honor?

asmonet's avatar

Can I come and hit on the groomsmen?

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

How’s JohnPowell gonna take this? Oh, asmonet, you would.

Allie's avatar

Yes, I am already married to JohnPowell. I wonder if he is still open to the dating other people thing. He said it first.

asmonet's avatar

Heck yes!

Jeruba's avatar

@SusanC, no, alas, I was referring to Sandy Dennis. When I was much younger, I was compared to her a number of times and once even approached in a dim bar by a fan who thought I was her (I wasn’t). Cate Blanchett does not look much like me.

Jeruba's avatar

@Asmonet, I have two sons.

Allie's avatar

Jeruba: ...and you still need to tell us about them.
Asmonet: Maybe we’ll be sisters-in-law.
... I think I’ve taken this too far. Apologies everyone.

asmonet's avatar

Or not far enough.

jonsblond's avatar

Since I asked the question am I invited to “said” wedding?

saranwrapper's avatar

@jonsblond I think you have to perform the ceremony.

jonsblond's avatar

Tell me when! :)

autumn43's avatar

will there be pancakes at the reception?

saranwrapper's avatar

There will be if they want me to come. Pun intended

jonsblond's avatar

I’ll bring the syrup. Log Cabin ok?

Jeruba's avatar

Wait, who’s getting married again? My boys? Yikes!

Allie's avatar

No, I mustt pass. Im gogin to marry JP.

augustlan's avatar

I think Allie is pulling a Krose!

asmonet's avatar

If jonsblond can’t make it…I’m ordained.

Good call, Aug. I think so too.

krose1223's avatar

I just have to say that I have a friend who looks exactly like Rene Zelweger in Bridget Jones’ Diary, the first one not the sequel. Exactly! It freaks me out every time I watch it.

And, my boss looks exactly like Merryl Streep. And that really creeps me out becuase my boss is…well…kind of mean and passive aggressive so now I associate her personality with Merryl Streep.

Jude's avatar

Neve Campbell and Kate Beckingsale

desiree333's avatar

@blueding, do you mean your boss who is like merryl streep is just like the boss (merryl streep) in The Devil Wears Prada? haha that must be a nightmare!

desiree333's avatar

Apparently on the myheritage site I look like Demi Moore, Fiona Apple, Ashley Tisdale, Victoria Beckam, Kate Beckinsale, Hilary Duff, Emily Rossum, and Jessica Alba. The one that gets matched with my pictures the most are Jessica Alba, and Victoria Beckam. Which I can see a bit.

jonsblond's avatar

@jmah- What an awesome combination. Neve is one of my favorite actresses. She can dance too. @augustlan- much prettier, especially in pink, than Molly you are.

augustlan's avatar

<blushing>

Judi's avatar

Jusdt found this website when answering another question. Really fun way to try on celebrity hair styles!

Sloane2024's avatar

Barbie happens on at least a tri-weekly basis
Katherine Heigle get this one whenever I come in contact with a big Grey’s fan
Taylor Swift I live in the south, so people tend to like to compare me to her.

jonsblond's avatar

@Judi- thanks for the links on this thread. It’s been fun!

tiffyandthewall's avatar

i’ve gotten ‘one of the olsen twins’ a few times. i think that’s based on a few certain pictures of myself, but i don’t even see it in them. but man i think that’s a compliment.

also, i was walking to the store with a friend once, and this kid on a bike referred to me as ‘lizzie mcguire girl’.

seems like i’ve gotten another, but i can’t think of anything else. so maybe that’s it. hah. i’ve gotten some pretty interesting ones on those websites that you upload your picture to though.

augustlan's avatar

I miss this thread.

jonsblond's avatar

@augustlan I do too! When I asked it I had the ipod touch and couldn’t use Judi’s link. I’ve been having fun with it recently now that we have the laptop and according to that site I look like Peta Wilson, Katherine Heigl and Tori Spelling. My daughter got Dakota Fanning and Jon supposedly looks like a Russian billionaire who is the 15th richest person in the world. (I could use some of his money!)

mangeons's avatar

According to the site @Judi posted way back, I look like Nina Persson. Anyone know who that is? xD

[Edit]: According to that site, I also look like Emma Thompson, Olivia Newton-John, Kirsten Dunst, Ann-Margaret, Jojo, and Mandy Moore.

The only ones I know of those are Kirsten, Jojo, and Mandy. And I don’t think I really look like any of those people. xD

In 1996 I was working in custmer service in the auto finance field and a customer called in my likeness to the Ricki Lake show, I was surprised by the show and decided to explore something exciting out of my hometown. Since that show I was told its a big business out there so since I have been entertaining the world as a professional Mariah Carey Lookalike..and have and continue to enjoy traveling the globe, doing new gigs and meeting new friends along the journey..Although,I don’t sing ( Mariah is obviously truly gifted with that one and only voice) I have been mistaken for her during several events I have done..
