What new music should I listen to?

One of the ways I like to find music is to use pandora.com . You tell it bands/songs that you like and it tells you other songs that you might like.

You should try listening to The Apples In Stereo, The Good Kind, white rabbit, Vampire Weekend, Gandalf Murphy. Also you could listen to the All Songs Considered podcast for finding new music

Minnesota Public Radio has a fantastic station for new, non-mainstream music called “the Current.” If you are not fortunate enough to live in the Twin Cities metro area you can stream it live at: http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/the_current/

Try KLOVE for some different music. It’s an FM station. In Denver it’s 91.1 FM. You can go to www.klove.com to find a station in your area.

Also, you could try The Klaxons, Hard-Fi, Maximo Park… I can’t get enough of them.

Sign up for Last.fm You can type in musicians you like, and hear musicians like them on Last.fm radio.

kcrw.com is an awesome station based in Santa Monica CA; Nic Harcourt’s Morning Becomes Eclectic always surprises and pleases, & all the dj’s are fresh and bring a lot of variety. They also stream and podcast their live shows, and publish all of their playlists.

I’m really feeling the new Wilco: Sky Blue Sky and Radiohead’s In Rainbows. That and the Sweeney Todd Soundtrack.

a lesser known site of the same breed as last fm and pandora which are both excellent is imeem wich has playlists organised in web 2.0 style or you can search by band for a playlist. Otherwise at this time of year the end of year lists are a good starting point such as metacritic
