Does anyone know where this website is?

Asked by amanderveen (1811points) January 15th, 2009

I’d heard that a website exists where you can do a search on common household products and a list of ingredients will come up, along with information about which ingredients are potentially hazardous. I haven’t been able to track it down, though. Does anyone have the link?

Thanks! I was looking all over and seemed to be able to find everything but! It’s crazy what is in everyday products that we don’t even know about. I really wish North America would take a page from the EU’s book.

Haha, no problem! It’s an interesting and useful site. I’m all about the green and organic products out there. There’s usually safer and cheaper alternatives to everyday household cleaners.

You can go to customer service at any store which sells a product and ask them for a Material Safety Data Sheet on the product and by Federal law they are required to furnish you with a copy. MSDS are awealth of knowledge.

I’m pretty sure in Canada they don’t have to have the MSDS for most of the products I’m curious about – for example, cosmetics, hair dyes, etc. I’m really hoping to figure out what some healthier alternatives are to some of the products I use.
