Are Moderators omniscient?

Asked by psyla (2544points) January 20th, 2009 from iPhone

Can a Moderator see all the posts and all the public and private messages sent by a single person, all at the same time? In short, can a Moderator see all of one person’s Fluther activities at once?

[mod says:] A moderator can see the public messages you’ve sent (but not private), the responses you’ve recently posted, and the questions you’ve recently asked. This is useful for dealing with spammy users, so we can clean up their activity.

Private messages require a reason for us to go digging after (such as reported abuse) and can only be viewed by me, Devi, Andrew and Ben in such cases. We respect your privacy.

Oh, and we know where you live and your bank account pin number. ;p

Thanks richardhenry! What’s the difference between a Manager & a Moderator? How many Moderators exist? Is it a paid position? How does one apply for a Moderator position, must they commute to Fluther offices?

Heh, no, we work for love. (Not lurve love, that would be cheating.)

I live in England, so I wouldn’t be able to commute to the Fluther offices, even if they weren’t Andrew and Ben’s apartments. We all just think Fluther is awesome and want to help out. Plus we got free tees and stuff. Yes; we’re that cheap. I’d consider Andrew especially a pretty good friend and it’s cool to get involved.

The ‘team’:

Ben – Founder
Andrew – The Other Founder
Me – Manager
Devi – Manager
Michael – Moderator
Jon – Moderator
Tali – Moderator
Allie – Moderator

Managers are moderators with a little more responsibility. Boo, responsibility! If you’re interested in being a moderator send one of us a private comment or email and we’ll get in touch if and when we need more hands.

@richardhenry What about sferik? Is he still around?

Thanks richardhenry! You’ve revealed the great arcane mystery of Fluther! Thanks for all you guys do. You know all Jellies appreciate you.

@Nimis Erik was never a Fluther moderator; he worked on the development with Ben and Andrew. He has moderator powers, but isn’t really a mod.

Thanks, Richard. Always nice to know there’s a mod around even during these late/early morning US hours. Pretty genius to have someone across the pond fill in, I’d say.

@Nimis Heh, I single handedly manage the rest of the world. ;)

Only the Great Moderator is omniscient. So be good for goodness sake :D

@augustlan Marina was going to join the team, but she’s too busy with things at the moment.
