Look at the graph for the entire day. Then chart a line of regression.

That sucking sound you hear is the vacum created by Bush’s buddies fleeing the country with billions of dollars in handouts and no-bid contracts.

Apparently a bunch of bad earnings reports came out.

This time of year is when a lot of earnings reports come out. IBM is kicking off the tech sector today after hours (Apple’s will be tomorrow – Wed, 21JAN2009 – after hours.)

I would be curious to see what stock market performance has been historically on inauguration Tuesday. Change, from the market perspective, is often not received positively (regardless of how strongly “change” resonates with the electorate.)

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if, historically, it often rebounds quickly. And I expect the same in this instance.

The market corrected for Obama’s impact long before he was elected. This is not related to the innaugeration. It is a more more short term response, although to what, I don’t know. If it’s bad earnings reports, I’ll believe it, but no one really knows what people are thinking when they buy and sell.

Earnings. Our stock is bouncing like a rubber ball on a daily basis. I don’t think it would have tanked as much as it would have if McCain had been elected. I was shocked at how much Bush 41 has deteriorated. His physical presence, along with Cheney in a wheel chair, had an “end of an era” physical appearance about it. It would only exacerbate the alarming element of McCain’s age. I doubt that either McCain or Palin could have delivered that speech. I needed to hear the “Washington Crossing the Delaware” story in the context of modern times, and the passage to foreign leaders about leading by building instead of destroying, made me tear up.

I think the center will hold.

@AlfredaPrufrock it was reported that Cheney was in a wheelchair due to a musculoskeletal injury sustained as part packing/moving…

@AlfredaPrufrock “end of an era” you mean “end of an error”? ;)

The stock market dropped over stuff that had nothing to do with the inauguration – largely a bunch of British bank FAIL.
