Messenger bag shopping?

Asked by binary (461points) January 20th, 2009

So I don’t know if this is appropriate but I’ll ask this here anyways.

Since I’m in need of a good way to carry books and such back and forth between places, I’m trying to find a messenger bag to buy on the internet. I don’t need something particularly unique or fashionable (but I’m a guy, and I’d like to keep it a masculine color), I’m just looking for something cheap—around 30–40$—that is able to carry traditional textbooks and what not.

If anyone happens to know of a store online or something about it, I’d appreciate it.

The best bag: Timbuk2

So worth the cost. You won’t be disappointed.

I have TIMBUK2 and LowePro camera bags. They are both good products.

I’ve had the Cornell model for about 10 years and it’s in great shape. It’s been my bag through 6 years of college/grad school, and my every-day bag (I’m a girl, but it’s a guy bag) too. It’s a little pricier than what you want, but it’s awesome.

How about Timbuk2 without the Timbuk2 price?
Sometimes I feel like a walking Ebay commercial.

Though I kind of dig Manhattan Portage myself. I like simple.

A have one by dakine. Don’t remember where I got it, probably some skate shop. It has held up wonderfully and was not expensive.

For the price, you can’t beat L L Bean for bookbags. My daughter uses the same backpack that she’s carried since 3rd grade in grad school.

Timbuk2 products are really great as well; the backpack with the removable day pack has seen a lot of service when the kids travel abroad.

No no no, binary, let’s keep it legit. Get a real messenger bag, like Chrome or Zo.

Oh, you don’t need unique or fashionable. Well, get a Chrome bag anyway, even though now they’re becoming ubiquitous. Everyone can use a little fashion in their life.

Try Etsy. There are a lot of great craftisans handcrafting items for sale.

I found this messenger bag in your price range:
