How do I eject a stuck cd?

Asked by ibadt (189points) January 22nd, 2009

I have a Walk the Line cd stuck in my car sterio. Any ideas on how I can get it out? I like Johnny Cash but not that much.

Read your car stereo’s manual – it might have a button combination you can press that will force the CD to come out.

With computers, there is a small pinhole on the front of the CD drive that you can fit a straightened paperclip into which will cause the drive to open up, but I’m not sure if there is a similar hole on car stereos.

Very carefully with tweezers that I have only found at Walgreen’s. It’s a delicate process…especially if it is a burned CD and the car and stereo are under warranty.

Some have a little hole you can push a bent paper clip into that will manually eject a stuck CD.

tweezers and a steady hand.

I had the same problem. Used a hemostat to rab the little booger. The tweezers kept slipping. I could get a good bite on it with the clamp.

at least with my laptop, yes, there is a little tiny hole into which one pokes a paperclip end. and it will pop out. don’t know about autos.

When this happens (frequently!) in my car, if I slip another cd into the opening the stuck one usually pops out. I have no idea why, though.
