I talk to my dog all the time. She’s awesome.

KingMalefic has an unhealthy relationship with his cat. Bordering on romantic.

<<——-Catgut loves it when I talk to her, so does the dog, but the dog thinks the cat is his pet. Weird.

When I had a cat (alas, no longer – AACHOO!), I talked to my cat. And I’d sing to my cat, but with a hairbrush as a “mic.” Because I was 14.

If I had a cat now, I would talk to my cat. I probably wouldn’t sing to her, though.

My cat owns the puny tiny Maltese… Yes I talk to my cat. We plan vengence and retribution upon the evil empire known as Asmonet…

But we use little log cabins and monopoly money.

Always did, yes, all of them.

I think it’s normal, makes you feel in company of someone, my mom talks to her little turtle called “Brigida” and the turtle looks like if she’d understand her..

gailcalled's avatar

Doesn’t everyone? Although in my case, I raise my hand first.

I talk to both the cats and the dogs.

the dogs are the only ones that answer

They talk to me so why shouldn’t I talk to them? Besides they listen without trying to contradict me, unlike my children, who either don’t listen or insist I am wrong about everything.

I talk to my cats and they talk back to me. (Siamese are great talkers.) They are great listeners too. Next to my Husband they are my best friends!

But of course I talk to my cats (three of them own me). It would be rude not to answer them when they speak to me wouldn’t it?

augustlan's avatar

I do. Both in English and in Cat. When I talk to them in Cat, they often talk back.

Bluefreedom's avatar

@augustlan. Could you teach me Cat? I have 5 cats of my own and I would like to converse with them. :o)

augustlan's avatar

Ha! I only have two cats, and they speak distinctly different dialects. I can’t imagine learning five! You’ll have to learn on your own ;)

My cat decides when I am allowed to speak. (if he’s even interested in paying attention to me.) When he does speak, if I don’t answer promptly, he smacks me. This can go on for several minutes…even longer. He’s been known to follow me down the hall, talking. I swear, when we walk in, it sounds like he’s saying “hello” – but don’t talk to him, more than just to return the greeting…or he’s liable to smack you.

tinyfaery's avatar

Of course. One of them even talks back.
