This answer applies to the 2008 United States Presidential election.

Though not a complete resource for the details of candidates’ health plan schemes, it shows which candidates support universal healthcare, and which do not (among other things): 2Decide

Alternatively, there is this website that allows you to compare two candidates and their stated positions, including health care: SelectSmart

I think you’ll find, though, in many cases, candidates do not reveal detailed plans of their initiatives until after they’re elected.

An article in the Economist has a handy little chart comparing the health care plans of the top three Dems. Certainly not comprehensive, but a good starting point.

Please consider that the only independent view is one where someone doesn’t know what they are talking about. Independent means not in agreement with anyone. (In this case has no knowledge of history, economics or morals)
Just remember that whoever pays the piper calls the tune. If you want somebody in Washington determining what health care you get when you’re dying then you’re likely to get none.
