Is there any connection between using Linux Mint and my having problems viewing videos and using the program stumble?

Asked by deepseas72 (1076points) January 31st, 2009

Two of my favorite things to do on the computer…watching news videos on CNN and “Stumbling” with the website stumbleupon.com. When i try to view videos, the video will start, and then stop within a few seconds. My browser is Firefox. This never happened with windows.

A good way to test this would be to pop in a Live CD of Ubuntu, and use firefox to try to view a video on Stumbleupon. There’s a good chance that your video card is not fully supported in Linux Mint, but it may be in Ubuntu.

Mint is wholly based on Ubuntu but it’s worth testing the first suggestion out…does it do this when playing an .avi file for example? Because if it’s fine with that it shouldn’t be a video card problem…
