Ladies: Have any of you ever had a biopsy done on your cervix?

Asked by kelly8906 (340points) February 1st, 2009

Is it not the worst thing in the world!? Or is it just me?I’m pretty tough, but I burst into tears everytime. I’ve had three and it seems worse every time.

I have never had a biopsy on my cervix but I imagine it would be about as much fun as a rectal exam, performed with a screwdriver, by a carnie.
Don’t touch me

lol, yikes. I don’t even want to think about that.

I’ve had one. I had a friend there with me (with medical background) for moral support. She also advised me not to look as the procedure was done. With all the magnification, the bleeding looks much, MUCH worse than it is.

It wasn’t fun, but I’ve been through worse things.

Relative to other female procedures, it was not bad. When the biopsy showed suspicious cells, I had cryosurgery. That is using liquid nitrogen (similar to the zapping done by the Dermatologist.) That wasn’t too bad either. Considering how sensitive some of the area is, there are parts that don’t seem to have nerve endings.

Trust me. It is not the worst thing in the world, although certainly not the chosen activity du jour.

Yep. They had the TV monitor there so I could watch the “extreme closeup” but I just couldn’t. It hurt so much. I hope I never have to have another one.

Yes; I thought it was awful.

I actually fainted. Right after it happened, I gasped, and fainted on the table. I was out for about 30 seconds.

Yeah, I’ve had one. Not the worst thing in the world, but certainly far from pleasant.

I’m in the crappy club, too. No fun – but definitely not the worst thing. Hope it all works out well for you!

The biopsy and the cryo. Not fun. No one asked me to watch, thank goodness. When I compare it to the possibility of ovarian cancer, I would do it again though.

I had severe dysplasia almost two years ago, it was removed by the LEEP procedure. Very painful for me, I’m a very sensitive person. I had to go back for check-ups every 3 months for a year, then every 6 for the next. This March will be the last before I’m back to the annual. Like everyone else has said, it could have been worse. I wish you well!
