Is "Across the Universe" as entertaining as it looks?

Asked by Supergirl (1696points) October 4th, 2007

My boyfriend and I want to see it tomorrow, but the reviews have been somewhat mixed, is the music as wonderful throughout as it appears in the previews?

I was leery, but I did really enjoy it. It was somewhat predictable, but was a very creative film and I did enjoy the music (I’m not normally one for cover versions) and how it was woven into the storyline. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Loved it. I’m usually very critical of movie musicals. Why bother? But this was something really different. I hated the remix of “Love” the Beatles music that accompanied Cirque de Soleil, but the arrangements of the songs in “Across the Universe” really worked. Go see it.

I’ve actually yet to see the film, but the majority of my friends who have seen it are unable to stop talking about it! “ATU” was recently re-released on my college campus this past week, and every showing has been sold out within 15 minutes. So apparently it’s even more entertaining than the previews and trailers show it as.

I absolutely loved it! I’ve noticed that a wide-range of people like that movie. I’ve only read reviews by people who didn’t like it, I’ve never known anyone personally.

I think that it is true what they say in the interviews about it: it was like these songs were written for this movie and not the other way around.

Then again, this is all just an opinion. I’m sure there are some who would disagree.

It was entertaining. I just couldn’t figure out why people randomly broke in with Beatles songs throughout the film. It was distracting to the story line. It’s become a party favorite, but only to prevent me from playing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band starring The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton.
