Is it illegal for someone under the age of 21 to buy cooking sherry?

Asked by KatawaGrey (21483points) February 4th, 2009

I can buy vodka sauce, but the alcohol’s been cooked out of it so can I buy cooking sherry?

Also, on a related note, if I can prove that I’m using vodka to make vodka sauce, would I get arrested for having it?

Interesting, a little searching shows that cooking sherry has salt added to a low quality wine and isn’t drinkable. (Though that probably depends on the drinker). But still, it contains alcohol, so it will be restricted by the same laws as any wine.

@Grisson: Thank you! I have always wondered about that.

Yet another reason to lower the drinking age:
Think of the children that will never become chefs!!
