Elvis, Firefly, Beethoven, Mozart, and the J-man. Just to see what the hell he has to say for himself.

codpieces. definitely codpieces.

asmonet's avatar

Oh yeah, codpieces. I’m with ya on that one.
Those are great fun.

For target practice.

Hill Street Blues (1980’s t.v. show)
Chevy Chevelle SS (1970’s)

Likeradar's avatar

I’m sure there’s deeper answers, but 90’s clothes would be pretty sweet. Clunky shoes, floral long skirts, Dr. Martins with miniskirts… good times.

Dog's avatar

Muscle cars. Seriously late 1960’s muscle cars

eponymoushipster's avatar

@asmonet that’s terrible. be nice to the codpiece.

Toys! I see that Big Wheels, Sit ‘n’ Spins and Slip ‘n’ Slides are still made, so:

Kebangers!

Two hard plastic balls attached to a string, which in turn was attached to a flat plastic handle. You clacked them together and they made the best sound! They’ve morphed into Klackers and they’re meh now. The fun was in wondering when the balls were going to shatter!

And there was toy called the Lemon Twist, where a rubber loop went round your ankle and there was a rubber extension attached to a plastic lemon with little beads in it that made noise. Moving your ankle would make everything rotate, and you’d skip over the lemon.

Ooh, and Spirograph, but only from the late 70s. The newer ones are lame.

asmonet's avatar

I warned you of deviant activities, sir.

KrystaElyse's avatar

@aprilsimnel – I remember Spirographs!

asmonet's avatar

@Likeradar: I miss my purple bike shorts with lace trim. I was in heaven in the third grade.
And my jellies.

@aprilsimnel: Skip It was way better than the Lemon Twist.

aprilsimnel's avatar

I would bring back 120 Minutes. With Dave Kendall. ::sigh::

Likeradar's avatar

@aprilsimnel- They still make the Lemon Twist things, they just call them something different now. I’ll try to find out…

asmonet's avatar

I have no idea why but Unsolved Mysteries just popped into my head. Scared the fuck out of me when I was a kid. That dude was creepy.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@asmonet Hi-5 on the Unsolved Mysteries, and a pensive, sideways glance on the cross-thread deviancy.

asmonet's avatar

Again, ]:)

KrystaElyse's avatar

@asmonet – Yesssssss! Skip It!

“Hey now kids come gather ‘round, See what just skipped into town! But the very best thing of allll…There’s a counter on this ball! Skip it! skip it!”

Oh and I agree with the Unsolved Mysteries guy, he creeped the hell out of me.

asmonet's avatar

@KrystaElyse: I skipped for hours, and hours, and hours…

Anything from the 80s. Break dancing, Silver Spoons, virginesque Madonna, Prince, Beastie Boys, CHiPs, the Love Boat, parachute pants, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club.

This is my childhood, I want it back!

eponymoushipster's avatar

@jonsblond if they ever EVAH try to remake Ferris Beuller’s Day Off or The Breakfast Club, i’ll will hunt that person down. and destroy them.

asmonet's avatar

@jonsblond: Wait, weren’t you on your way to bed? ;)

@eponymoushipster: They already made Ferris… a tv show, and I heard they were trying to remake it a few years ago..I kinda refuse to google for updates on it. I leave that to you.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@asmonet yeah, i remember the Ferris show (complete with Jen Aniston), as well as Ferris rip-off on Fox Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, with awesomely named Corin Nemic. and no, i didn’t google or imdb either of those. and yes, i’m a dork.

asmonet's avatar

Okay, Parker… was win.
High-five.

eponymoushipster's avatar

My favorite line from Parker Lewis Can’t Lose? “Bring on the Beefcake.”

it was from an episode where they were trying to distract or confuse the mean, cougar-ish principal chick.

asmonet's avatar

Haha, I remember that!

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

I’ve always wanted a brand new 1939 Caddy Imperial Limosine with the original V16 engine. My tastes are simple, but one of those cars would put me in 7th Heaven.

Aethelwine's avatar

@asmonet Trying to get rid of me, are you? ;)

@eponymoushipster Some movies should never be remade. Especially The Lost Boys.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@jonsblond true. Or…wait for it…The Goonies. classic. if that gets remade, someone will hang from their genitals.

asmonet's avatar

@jonsblond: Gentle ribbing I promise. :)

River Phoenix

Jack79's avatar

“Friends” (I was wondering when they’re going to do some more episodes with them in their 40s and the kids all grown up)

“Galactica” though I probably wouldn’t like it now as much as I did as a kid

60s fashion, I wouldn’t necessarily follow it but I prefer the people around me looking like clowns than vampires

big cars like you see in the movies (Buicks and what have you) but with the low oil prices

can’t think of any more

90s_kid's avatar

THE NINETIES
90’S

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

How about the gay 90’s? The 90’s (just a few years ago) is too recent.

dlm812's avatar

Muscle Cars.. but with modern horsepower :)

Veronica Mars (My favorite canceled tv show – but there is going to be a movie soon!)

Dukes of Hazzard (The ORIGINAL cast)

Chivarly

The thought of “Bully” breeds as one of America’s top family dogs (Example: The Little Rascals)

I can’t think of anymore right now.. I’ll get back to ya later.

gailcalled's avatar

The Edsel, panty girdles, clean oj cans as hair curlers, squinting (before contact lens), and the Rat Pack.

asmonet's avatar

I’m pretty sure I’d the only one, but I’d bring back corsets too.
When worn correctly, they’re incredibly comfortable.

90s_kid's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra
Don’t start again….DON’T

“If you could bring back any fashion/TV show/car/person/anything from any decade, what would it be?

Mods I swear, some people just do it to annoy me maybe because I am 14!

dlm812's avatar

@asmonet I’ve never had the body to wear a corset and it be comfortable, but I think they are gorgeous, so I’m with you on that one.

asmonet's avatar

@dlm812: Honestly, it’s a matter of finding what works for you and having someone who knows what they’re doing do the the fitting. A real corset, with steel boning when properly fitted, should be comfortable. And then you have to break it in so it molds to your body, once both of those are done, you really forget you’re wearing it.

I love corsets. :D

tiffyandthewall's avatar

my so called life was just about the best show to happen in the 90s. i’d love to bring that back, back when jared leto played a jerk on tv and wasn’t just a jerk in real life haha.

i’d like to bring marilyn mornoe back, give her another shot at having the family she always wanted.

and you know what, i want the ads/newspapers of the late 40s/early 50s. they were charming.

steelmarket's avatar

Hey, @Bluefreedom – my first car was a ‘72 Chevelle ! Not new, of course. Bring ‘em back!
Also, please bring back:
– the original SNL cast
– Big Country (the band)
– Dirty Harry
– The Rockford Files
– Invasion (yeah, lame, but I got sucked into the plot before ABC sacked it)
– Due South

And, as long as we talking about resurrections, please bring back:
– Ernie Kovaks
– Jimi Hendrix
– Jerry Garcia
– Robert Heinlein
– Harry Truman
– Mark Twain
– Dumbledore
and let’s put the real Eric the Red on those credit card commercials.

dlm812's avatar

I just thought of another one… Ronnie VanZant. I would love to go to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, but it just wouldn’t be the same with out him. I respect his brother, but the band just isn’t the same.

KrystaElyse's avatar

@tiffyandthewall – Yesss! My So-Called Life was awesome! Jordan Catalano <3

Likeradar's avatar

@KrystaElyse I just love the way he leans…

aprilsimnel's avatar

I’d bring John back. He’d be such a curmudgeon by now…

gooch's avatar

McGyver just think of the things he could do now with all the new technology in this world today.

asmonet's avatar

MacGyver us still alive… And making MasterCard commercials occasionally. :P

tiffyandthewall's avatar

@KrystaElyse, whenever i think of jared leto, as jordan or otherwise, i think of that one quote, when angela says “He’s always closing his eyes, like it hurts too much to look at things.” or something like that. i don’t know why.

Likeradar's avatar

@aprilsimnel Kennedy or Lennon? Or another John?

aprilsimnel's avatar

@Likeradar – Lennon. He’s my favorite Beatle. I wasn’t alive to know of Kennedy.

St.George's avatar

Original VW Bugs, Beetles, Super Beetles.

gailcalled's avatar

My first car was the original VW Beetle. It had no gas gauge; when you ran out of gas, you kicked on a little reserve tank. That held enough fuel to get you to a gas station, unless you forgot (which we often did). Then you were stuck, often on superhighways with traffic whizzing by. This was decades before car or cell phones.

amandala's avatar

Boy Meets World. I would watch that show forever.

Feeny! Feeny! Fee-hee-hee-heeny!

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@90s_kid hey, if I can annoy someone under twenty, that’s a plus for me. Teenagers annoy me like crazy, so turnabout is fair play.

90s_kid's avatar

I am ignoring you, mmk?

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

You can try, but others have failed, so I know you’ll be back. I am fascinating, like a train wreck. You just can’t help but look.

Renaissance architecture. Various aesthetics from around the turn of the last century. Jeans that wouldn’t wear out so fast. The dollar, from when a nickel was serious money. Good broadcast TV, from whenever it was that we lost it. The interest in space travel from decades past. The inexpensive surplus M1 Garand. Airships.
That’s it for now.

Cars that can still be beautiful because the almighty Fed isn’t worried about burning long dead dinosaurs or scratching jaywalkers.
