I didn’t use my eggs and I wasn’t sure if I should.

Depends on how they are handled.
If you kept them refrigerated, they will last a good while.
If you crack one open and it looks or smells bad, don’t eat it.

Until they hit the side of the house or car.

You need to give us more info.

Are they cooked or not cooked? If cooked, how long ago?
How long have they been out of refrigeration?

Uncooked eggs can stay fresh for around three weeks in the fridge.
For the longest time I kept my eggs out of the fridge and I never suffered any ill effects.

isn’t there an “eggspiration” date on the side of the container?
corny, I know; but I couldn’t resist

Uncooked eggs can stay fresh for three months in the fridge. I mean, really, if you don’t eat them….

Eggs are only bad if they smell off. Crack one. If they smell, you’ll know.

Also, if the eggs are too close to the use by date, the grocery won’t take them and the egg people re-process them with a new use by date three months out according to a news program I saw at my grandmother’s. I’ve always gone with the sniff test and have not died or gotten ill.

If you plan on eating them raw, however, go get fresh ones today. If possible from a farmer. The fresher they are, the better when you plan on going raw.

If an egg floats in a glass of water, probably not good.

Definitely not good for a year, I went to make eggs one time and looked at the expiration date, I glanced and thought they were good until the end of the month…I cracked it open and it was dried out and gross, ends up the expiration date was for that month a year ago. Gross!

I second what susanc said. Easy way to tell if it’s bad is to see if it floats. If it does, bacterial activity has built up gases inside the shell, making it light enough to float.

Just from personal experience, I had eggs that didn’t float entirely, instead they kind of lifted and pointed straight up. I cracked them and they were perfectly okay. I read somewhere that you have about a week left at this point (the standing up), but take that with a grain of salt. :)
