I work in the entertainment field. We get a lot of CDs passing through, and some co-workers keep a list of the really freaky band names. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Lush Pile and the Carpets

There’s a new band passing through, I don’t know if they’ll last, but they’re called Hoobastank. I just think that’s hilarious. Every time I see their name, I think “I wonder if they’re Hoobastanky?” lol. :)

The String Cheese Incident is pretty great. Also ”...and you will know us by the trail of the dead” and “I can make a mess like nobody’s business”, “and then I turned seven”, “BEDlight for blueEYES”, “Death Cab for Cutie”, “fountains of wayne”, “minus the bear”. All bands I love, but emo/pop punk/indie bands are really good at coming up with slightly ridiculous names.

@mangeons Hoobastank is actually RE-passing through. They were pretty big in the late 90’s early 2000’s.

And Death Cab for Cutie is the name of a song from a 60s band with another strange name, The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, and they sang that song in Magical Mystery Tour (otherwise known as Paul’s Folly. Oh, Paul.).

And who the hell came up with 30 Odd Foot of Grunts? Who? Why?
