How much do you tip delivery people?

Asked by ezraglenn (3502points) October 18th, 2007

Is it just the standard 15–20%? (Is the service they are providing really worth as much as restaurant service?) This has always confused me.

I think that you can do about 10% (although I tend to do more; tips make up a lot of the deliverypeoples’ salary)

I always check to make sure I’m not getting charged for delivery(some places are slick about that) I normally give $2–3

I usually give like 15 percent but I feel like that’s way too much.

I usually round up so that no change has to be made. But if it gets past like $3 on a single pizza, I’m looking for some change. On a bigger order, I think 10% is more than fair.

I usually give 20%, but that’s just the way I am. If your looking for a good guide to tipping check out this site on Basic Tips on Tipping: How Much and to Whom ; they suggest 10% and minimum of $2 for delivery people(including pizza) .

I hope this clears things up.

I usually tip at least $5 because gas is so expensive. I know a lot of places have a delivery fee but I’m not sure how much of that goes directly to the driver so I always give them a nice tip.
