How do you find music on Jamendo?

Asked by Vincentt (8094points) March 4th, 2009

The amount of quality music on Jamendo.com is amazing, however, the site doesn’t really make it easy to find. I’ve only found very few songs I liked on there, and I just know there has to be more on there that I’d be able to appreciate. So, any tips on finding new music there?

I’ve already tried using the ‘jamendo’ tag on Last.fm and to check the Jamendo group – that’s the most effective method I found to date, but not effective enough for my liking.

I use the Tag Cloud on Jamendo.

Right, I’ve tried to use that too but I find it hard to define genres I like. And even if I would be good at that, the artist often aren’t, meaning that the right tag still finds the wrong type of music.
Also, my extremely diverse and odd musical tastes make it hard to find matching tags since I often only like a few particular songs in a particular style.

When I go to jamendo, I know what I’m looking for, usually. I use it for music for podcasts, since the license is so permissive.

If you’re just looking for new, interesting music, try the Jamendo Top 100, or choose a Radio station that caters to your tastes.
