Does anyone know if cellulean truly works?

Asked by missjena (918points) March 4th, 2009 from iPhone

I am young, athletic, and eat healthy. I have lots of cellulite and I really don’t understand why besides that it is genetic. Has anyone tried cellulean? Or anyone know of a product that actually works or what to do? I do squats etc nothing helps.

No, it doesn’t work. If it worked, just like if weight loss pill X worked, it would be studied by scientists and heralded around the world. It’s a scam where by ordering the free pills you agree to a monthly recurring shipment and astronomical charge, and it’s very hard and time consuming to unsubscribe, let alone get your money back.

There is simply no way a topical cream would help get rid of cellulite. At best the cream may cause the skin to tighten up thus giving the appearance of no cellulite, but you would need to reapply it constantly to keep up the charade. The wikipedia article has more information about cellulite including some of the theorized causes. I am particularly interested about the analysis done comparing men to women which finds that women may be more susceptible to developing cellulite due to the way our fat cells grow and the way fat is stored on our bodies in general. Until we can understand why it exists, we cannot truly create a solution. I’m afraid you’ll just have to get used to it being a part of you.

Damn it, dynamicduo beat me to it. :)

To be fair, no one cares about it on anyone else. Usually, it’s the person who has it that obsesses, not those around them. Don’t worry so much.

It really works wonderfully, for what it’s intended to do!

Which is, of course, to make bucketloads of money for the manufacturer, who sells it to people who are insecure about their appearance and want a quick fix.
