Has anyone taken apple cider vinegar for acid reflux?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) March 5th, 2009

Since I have been fasting I have had horrible acid reflux. I did some online research and found all kinds of people extolling the virtues of apple cider vinegar mixed with water as a cure. Has anyone tried it? Did it work for you?

I’ve never tried it, but I use ACV on my hair and face. I believe it is a wonderful thing, and if I had acid reflux, I’d give it a shot.

Apple Cider Vinegar is generally good for you. It was recommended to me to drink a shot of it every day for general health. I say do it.

I don’t know anything about it at all, I just have a question.

Maybe someone can explain the logic to me—acid is coming up the wrong way, and supposedly you can fix it by putting more acid into your stomach? I don’t get it…

@La_chica_gomela Yes! I had that exact same question! On a bunch of sites I read that acid reflux is actually caused by a lack of acid in the stomach,

I know people who swear by this—as a general health measure. One thing, one teaspoonful or tablespoonful won’t hurt you. So, it won’t hurt to try. Why don’t you keep a record though, so that you can keep real track of the effects?
