I’m at page 660 with what…200 to go… I don’t’ want to give now..but it is like wading through mud, but i do want to find out what happens to the poor guy… can you just answer yes…or…no or something in-between to the aforementioned question without spoiling it..as I will most likely read on til the death…

No, but I have enjoyed other books by him. Sounds awfully long through.

I find Irving’s writing impossible to read. Why not find a plot summary online and stop reading the book. Life is too short and there are too many readable books out there, waiting.

@lynneblundell I think you will find the end justifies the means.

I decided to stick with it and I am getting there… just about to sit down and have a read now actually…

ok…finished!. so… i was pleasantly surprised…the book seemed to pick up in the last 200 pages.. the lovely wry humour that i so loved in Owen Meany reared it’s comical head and the tender bitter-sweetness of the denouement was believable and moving… but i was still left feeling rather sad and disappointed about the whole story… but i guess that herein lies the sorrow; that stories like this do happen and are very sad
