I am looking for a game from the 90's?

that I used to play on the NES. It was a role playing game in which you fought various creatures, then faced a boss at the end of each level that looked like a centaur, or a satyr, or some other Greek type mythological being and with each level you got god-like powers. The game title logo had a planet or some odd looking world. I want to think it had the word God or Quest in the title, but I haven’t been able to find it. I even spent several hours on an eBay game sellers’ site looking for it, but to no avail. I was wondering if any one else remembered it, or maybe played it.

It’s ok guys, I have this under control

madcapper's avatar

@Lothloriengaladriel and hows that if I may ask?

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

it was sort of like Zelda, but maybe more of a side scroller. I remember a lot of dark backgrounds and brightly colored enemies. It’s been so long, and there have been so many games since then. Thanks for the suggestions though.

@madcapper, nm I thought I had it right ):

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

not Chrono Trigger. This game only had one hero, a single player game.

asmonet's avatar

Um, no. Not FF or CT.

madcapper's avatar

@Lothloriengaladriel oh ok it’s all good. I just new that Chrono Trigger was for SNES and while a kick ass game it couldn’t be it :)

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

No, this was very early in the 90’s, and there was only the one game, never a sequel as far as I know. I had the NES system, traded it for the new SEGA cartidge game to get my kicks with the first Sonic the Hedgehog game.

Oh shit, I’m naming snes games, no wonder lol I’ll shutup now, sorry lol

Castlvania 2: Simons Quest? I fee like there was a centaur like boss in there somewhere…

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

No, not Castlevania. I’m sure of it. I am half-convinced the title had the word God in it. I think it was about beating all the monsters and ending up ruling the world as a benevolent god yourself. It was a dude with a sword and shield.

Omgz iron sword?
Let me be right this time ..

well, thanks to the suggestion by kevinhardy, I found a site listing every NES game ever made, so I guess I’ll have to go through them all and pick out the ones that sound familiar. I think I know what I’ll be doing every night after work. Thanks everyone LURVE to you all!!!

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

here is the list, if anyone else is interested.

Lothloriengaladriel's avatar

I suck at this game

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@Lothloriengaladriel well, if it makes you feel any better, I suck at remembering things in general. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you did your best, and I appreciate it. :-)

madcapper's avatar

Well I am stumped but I hope you find it cause now I wanna know! haha

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

I FOUND IT!!!!

The game was called Act-Raiser. Yeah, I know, weird title, but it was an awesome game.

Much Lurve to everyone who played along, and even more Lurve to the Intrawebs. Gota love the Intrawebs.

KrystaElyse's avatar

YAY! I’m glad you finally found it :D

simone54's avatar

Act-raiser was for SNES. and you could have mentioned that you were and angel and the part where you have to build a town.

TheRocketPig's avatar

@simone54 Battle of Olympus… NICE.

madcapper's avatar

I see wonderful!

kevinhardy's avatar

act raiser sweet game

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@simone54, sorry, but it was a very long time ago, and also many games and several systems ago, and my memory isn’t what it once was. I only had a single image from the game in my mind. I couldn’t remember anything else. I was fortunate to find it at all, and only did so because some other gamer had it on their top 100 list online and posted pretty much the same image I remembered. I’d forgotten all about the town building part.

Next time I’ll try to bring my memory of things from two decades ago up to your level of perfection and expertise. sheesh!
