How do you think facebook "verifies" a user's real name?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) March 15th, 2009

A couple days ago as a joke I changed my facebook name from my real name to Alice B. Toklais – they approved this change. When I tried to change it back to my real name it was declined and I was told not to try to change it for two weeks. I was unable to make sense of this. Can you?

Hmm, maybe there’s a limit to how often you can do it to avoid becoming MySpace. I know some users with real names like Xerox and Canon have been denied the right to make an account because they were seen as spam. It’s been an issue that they’re being forced to address.

That’s hilarious. I think they just have limits on how often you can make changes period. How often you change networks, etc.

Because Facebook is a front for the CIA and they need to update your records

they wouldn’t let me put my real name in initially. i have to use my middle name as my last name.

I would think it’s the frequency of your change request that is causing the denial.

Facebook does not verify if your name is right or wrong. They simply cannot. It’s impossible. Sometimes they ban whole subgroups of names for whatever reason. If you continue to have problems, send them emails.
