How do I remove part of a sticky label from a new pair of jeans?

Asked by augustlan (47745points) March 18th, 2009

When I peeled off the ‘size sticker’, a very thin layer of it remained in some spots. It seems like it’s almost a part of the fabric now, and won’t scrape or peel off. I’m thinking that washing them might actually set the stuff permanently. Any ideas?

i hate labels and glues on anything i buy. for what? why does it need to be so secure? my advice: scrape gently with a straight-edged razor. wash, if need be. eventually the glue and paper will dissolve.

not to mention, what is up with CD packaging? so hard to open. aggravating!

Nah, wash it. Hot water.

Oxyclean is magical. If that doesn’t work, return them.

In the future though, lay it flat, grab some duct tape, press it on, work it in then rip off. Presto change-o. Perfect. But this should be done as soon as you see the sticker ripped, don’t mess with it – just tape.

Or, grab your powdered detergent when you wash it and rub it in, fold some pieces together and rub it around, hard. Use it on itself to ‘exfoliate’ the fabric with the detergent.

I’ve had this sticker things happen before, any of these generally work.

Soap, hot water, and a toothbrush.
