What TV show can I engross myself in after I finish Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Asked by juniper (1910points) March 21st, 2009

I need to fill the wee hours of the nights somehow, and Buffy has been it for the past several months. (Oh, how I love it!)

I’ve never had TV so I’m not up on many shows except those I’ve sought out on DVD. Any suggestions?

As a frame of reference, I also love Freaks and Geeks, My So Called Life, and The Office.

Definitely go for Angel. It’s a bit darker than Buffy, but very very good. Also, Firefly if you’re a Joss Whedon fan. It’s not very long, but definitely worth seeing. :)

Arrested Development, Angel(not on tv anymore, i’m sure you could rent it), Psych, that’s all I can think of.

Angel, yes! How did I not think of that? Thanks! I tried Firefly a bit, but couldn’t get into the first few episodes. Does it get better?

Battlestar is surprisingly good.

Angel (although for me, it could never compare to Buffy, but it was still entertaining)

Veronica Mars: blond female lead, quirky characters, amazing puns

Firefly is great! It does take a couple of episodes to get into, but once you’re hooked, you’re hooked for good. Unfortunately, there aren’t that many episodes – you’ll be left wanting more. And then you’ll watch the movie Serenity, and your fate as a Whedonite will be sealed.

Dollhouse is another Whedon show – have you seen it?

I agree with the Veronica Mars suggestion. The title character is witty and similar to Buffy in a sense.

One mof my favorite shows when i was younger was called American Gothic. It starred Gary Cole.
It is an amazing show, dealing with the supernatural in small town South Carolina.

It recently was released on DVD. I highly recommend you check it out.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia!

True Blood will be in keeping with the vampire theme. And it’s awesome. This is coming from a HUGE Buffy fane.

I’d second Firefly if you’re a Whedon fan and True Blood if you’re a vamp fan. I know a lot of Buffy fans made the jump to Heroes as well. I’d recommend it.
