Curtains are cold and clammy. Thus I prefer the box.

I’ve grown up with shower curtains and am used to them.

But let me just say, my old boyfriend had a box shower that was quite large…gave me a new appreciation for them…:)

But we’d always have to squeegee it afterward so it didn’t grow mold…kind of boner killer.

Shower curtains can be easily and (relatively) cheaply replaced when they get old and dirty. Shower doors never stay clean, no matter how much you scrub. And they’re a bitch to replace.

One of my friends is a brain surgeon, really stuffed with cash, he has one of those “shower grottos” where water comes from like different directions.

Needless to say I use every excuse in the book to shower over there, lol.

On the realistic side, I got curtains but would love to get a box.

@Dog..i prefer the box too

I’m with MrItty it is much easier to replace the shower curtain. Especially if you inherited a shower door from someone who hasn’t kept up the cleaning, it can take years to get all the grime off! Blech!

I buy the material ones like the hotels have. They last forever & can just be thrown in the washer. It’s a cinch to keep them clean.

If everyone just took baths, problems solved.

But baths kind of skeez me out. Depends on the bath I guess.

I prefer CLEAN, be it a clean boxed shower with doors or one with a shower curtain, just keep the whole set up clean and without any hint of mildew smell. Blech.

Curtains, unless I could have one like @TaoSan‘s brain surgeon friend. Shower doors are harder to clean. But brain surgeons probably can afford a maid.

Shower curtains. I hate, hate, hate the box. I feel way too closed in.

Curtains work for me, as long as it isn’t one of those wicked cheap ones that cling to your body every time a draft happens to flow through the room. Box showers are such a bitch to keep clean, and the bigger they are, the colder they seem to be. however, that grotto style seems pretty sexy, so I might make an exception

@exitnirvana I totally know what you mean. I fucking hate that. Life sucks, man.

casheroo was right, sarcasm + Fluther= no funciona

If the shower is over a bathtub, then curtains are fine. My preference for shower cubicles is definitely a box though – curtains are way too flimsy to stay in place against the weight of all that water.

shower box?? i didn’t know it had a name. i’ve seen tubs with sliding glass doors, is that a shower box?
i don’t mind those, they’re just a pain to keep clean. i like shower curtains…much easier when you have kids and are bending over the tub when giving them a bath.

aviona's avatar

@casheroo yeahhh I’d never heard it called that either, but I just kind of figured…

Sliding doors for sure. I grew up with a door on the shower, and now have a curtain in my apartment and I HATE it.

I prefer my shower big enough that you don’t have a door to clean. My current shower has 13 shower heads so I don’t get cold.

Shower curtains get annoying, at least some of them. Not fond of the vinyl they usually come in.

Guess boxes are preferable, but am not usually the one cleaning them. Sliding doors appear to get very grimy, on the bottoms especially – white & then brownish gunk. Very gross.

But long ones, ontop of tubs… the other ones are too closed in for me.
