Wow. The eruption of doubt was bad enough. Now we have to go through it again????

I’m more concerned about the volcano under Yellowstone.

So far, it hasn’t had any direct impact on me. That said, it’s creating some havoc with the airlines and ash fall has been recorded less than forty miles from me. It just blew again, btw, the 6th eruption, so ash fall will continue to be an issue for awhile. I have some friends who are currently stuck in Nome, some others in Fairbanks, and can’t get home cos of the flight disruptions, so even tho’ there’s been little or no direct impact on me, I do know people who are being inconvenienced as a result of the eruption. The Anchorage airport has remained open but with delays and detours, interrupting both local and international air travel and even threatening vehicle travel cos the ash will destroy an engine in no time if proper steps to protect your vehicle aren’t taken and it enters your area.

It makes me appreciate the money in the federal stimulus package for something called “volcano monitoring.”

I just do what I can, and try not to worry about it. Try to influence others.

One of my friends from wis.dm lives very close to it and she’s rather worried. I hope and pray it works out all right.

@michale- thank you

as for the q, well, we are safe from the ash right now, but tomorrow there is a concern if there is another eruption

I am currently spending my winter in Anchorage. The only thing I have noticed is more people at the stores and less product on the shelves. Kind of used to it now though. Everyone was freaking out a month ago when they started talking about it erupting. It’s actually kind of funny for me because I am from Hawaii where the volcanic activity is much more “in your face”, not to mention the whole aspect of being surrounded by water. At least in Alaska one could drive away from it if they felt the urge to flee.
