Is there a way to retrieve / restore / recover music files from an AppleTV?

In upgrading my iMac to Leopard I somehow deleted a portion of my music. But, my AppleTV has a copy of all my music prior to the upgrade. I am wondering if there is a way to restore the data from the AppleTV. Does anyone have any experience with this?

You could disassemble the Apple TV and access the HDD via an external enclosure? Also, if you purchased your music from the iTunes Store, you can contact them to redownload your entire purchase history (although you may only do this once).
